LETTER TO MOMMY
Looking at the reflection of me,
I see your impression so clearly,
Staring in the mirror and your face stares back at me,
But am I everything you expected me to be?
Would you be happy with what you see?
People say I'm just like you,
But I must disagree,
For I know people as beautiful as you come far and few,
You had a way about you I could never retrace,
You could never be replaced,
What I wouldn't give for one last embrace,
Just one more day to see your sweet smiling face,
The baby boy you left behind...
Well he's grown into a handsome young man now,
He possesses your joy,
Your sweet disposition,
He's the closest thing to your exact rendition,
I hold him close,
Cuz I know you'd want me to,
If only he knew,
How much he mirrors you,
We can't wait to see you,
Can't wait to hold you in our arms again,
Without you our world is dim,
Some days life is like a game we just can't seem to win,
But I know you'll be here soon,
Until then,
Get some sleep,
Cuz when you wake up...
Your ours to keep.
With sincerest love... your daughter.
