I didn't know what was going on. These four people had helped me escape. I felt exposed to any attack in this plain white forest. We were in the mountains, surrounded by tall pines covered with snow. It was quiet and peaceful in this frosty place. The labs and pain-givers were just a bad memory now. Behind us was a nightmare, in front of us was a small downward cliff only a meter tall. After was white clearing lined by more pines going down the mountain.
Every one's breaths were coming out in clouds. I wish the cloths the lab gave us would have come with jackets instead of just a plain blue uniform.
I shivered than stretched my wings and ran. The cold air caught under my wings as I jumped off the tiny cliff. I flapped, putting as much power as I could into staying aloft. But it failed and I tumbled head over heals into the snow. I heard a giggle come from the angle girl and my face flushed. Then she jumped off the same cliff but she was able to stay aloft. It was beautiful the way her wings moved up and down gracefully. She tried to land but instead, stumbled and landed face first into the snow. Now it was my turn to laugh. Now we were both laughing like crazy people and it felt good.
The cat girl was giggling with us while the other two gave us silly grins that made us laugh even more.
" I'm Jay" laughed the angle girl.
" Tiger." giggled the cat/girl.
" Sky." Replied the centaur. Swishing her white tail impatiently.
" Name?" Whispered the deer girl. "Um. Oak I guess."
I put my straight face back on when they all stared at me. " Earshot."
" If you want." Jay asked. " I could teach you how to fly." I nodded to this. For the first thing I wanted to do was leave the ground. So I copied her wing for wing until finally I was free in the open sky. Now I just had to land.
