Chapter 4
She heard commotion in the room wondering who was knocking on the door so early in the morning. Emma, her heart pounding so hard like a hammer hitting her heart, was anxious, hoping she had found the correct door. She couldn't make out who was talking and all she could hear were mumbles. She didn't know whether the people inside had a way to unlock the door but she was sure that if her parents were there they would have a key as they always carried a key with them. Finally after tense moments for Emma, the door opened. Emma, her heart pounding even harder, waited for the person to say something. She heard a muffled cry. Emma knew it was her parents. She quickly whispered, "Mother, I will explain later, just let me in before anyone walks by." Emma entered the room and lay on the floor with a sigh of relief. Had it been that easy to find her family? But she still had another problem. How would they leave? Instead of troubling herself, Emma decided to get a good rest of sleep. Her dog had to hide in the closet because if the people came in, they would see dog hair on the floor and become suspicious. The next morning Emma joined her dog in the closet so no one would see her. When the people came a few minutes later, they brought the breakfasts in and told Emma's parents, "Your daughter is missing, have you seen her?" Although they didn't want to lie there was nothing they could do. They replied "We didn't see her since you took us." The man at the door grunted and angrily shut the door behind him. As soon as their footsteps died down, Sarah sighed relieved that they didn't inspect the room. After breakfast was over, Emma related her story and her parents, proud of their daughter, started planning how to escape and when. As evening neared, Emma and her parents retired to bed. Emma, not worried at all fell asleep instantly. Her parents, on the other hand, couldn't sleep. Luckily they didn't fall asleep or they wouldn't have heard the knock on the door. "Oh no," thought Sarah, "We are in trouble."
