Chapt. 2

"Soul!" Tekk screamed tears on her face. I could barley hear her. There was just pain, as I screamed and screamed

"What the heck? OH MY GOD!" Soul screamed"I need help, get a table ready, get me some needles, we have a person dying here!"

"She-she's DYING?!" Tekk cried

"Give me the antivirus!" Should shouted

"But WE need the antivirus, she can die, we can't waste anymore!" Terry sited at soul

"Te-tekk?" I coughed

"Sheva!" She said grabbing my hand

"Give me a vial of the gold liquid, and give me the antivirus" I said, dropping my arm, my breathing shallow

"Give me a vial terry, or I will rip you limb from limb" tekk said

"Fine, but if she dies, it's your fault we lost even more of the virus" he said reluctantly.

I grabbed the vials, and mixed the liquids, taking a needle and shoved it into my arm

"Ahh, ohh, oh my god, I feel better" I said, siting up

"Sheva, your leg!" Soul said, pointing at my already healing bone and skin.

I stood up"where is memo" I said, walking inside" I want to make sure he knows it's not his fault" as I walked down I heard Luther and memo, memo was shouting something like"it's my fault she's dead I know it" he was sobbing, and Luther was speaking words of comfort, I stepped in

"Memo, I'm fine" I said, patting his shoulder

"Sheva I thought you were dead!" He said leaping into my arms

I hugged him for a time"I think you should go get some water" I said, touching his cheek.

"Ok, . . .just be careful sheva, we couldn't make it without you" he said leaving the room.

"Thanks Luther, for taking care of him" I said standing, when he grabbed my shoulder he leaned forward, grabbing my chin, and kissed me softly

"IM SO SORRY" he said, pushing away

"What the fuck?!" Jace yelled, grabbing my shoulders" you stay away from her!" He said pushing Luther.

"C'mon jace, just. Don't" I said, grabbing his hand

"I'm sorry, I just-" he said, blushing

"I love you alone, ok?" I said kissing his cheeks

That's when I heard screaming from the eating area

"God, that kid gets all the food. What about us!" I heard terry yell

"He is so much smaller than you terry back off!" Tekk yelled

I walked onto the room, and saw terry slap tekk. Before she could react

I walked forward, punched him in the face, and smashed his face into my knee. And then I threw him into the wall" if you ever do anything like that again. I'll kill you" I growled.

He stood up limping, his nose bleeding and his eye bruised.

"Babe, come, you need to get some rest" jace said, grabbing my hand and leading me away to our room.

"There's running water, we're leaving after this, the dead-heads are moving on" he said, pointing to the bathroom

"Thank you jace, I'm so tired, I kissed him softly and walked into the bathroom. All I can say is that, well I finally got to cry of true loss of my family. And I got to be clean. When I was done, I felt energized, and I got dressed in some dark jeans, with a athletic muscle shirt.

"Oh, you're done showering" said Luther, a black eye showing

"Luther, I-" I began.

"I'm sorry, I shouldn't have kissed you. But I have had a thing for you since I can remember" he said."and here's a brush, I thought you might want it, and a few ponytails" he said leaving the room.

I walked over to the car, and I led my friends inside, memo, terry, tekk, Kurt, drake, and soul were coming along with another boy I used to know.

We headed past the zoo, when someone said"stop!" I saw a sighn

Terry, me, Nate and tekk jumped out of the car, guns at our sides."in and out got it"I said

"Whatever you say" terry said snidely

"Alright lets go" we walked into the zoo, already there were signs that there was no one alive inside, but hope drove us forward. I looked down, and saw some, weird tracks, not human, or dog. Ashe was still falling, making our vision cloudy. We walked past the lion cages, and I saw one that was broken open, blood and fur on the bars.

"Stay alert!" I said, nervous

"I am alert you dumb cunt" terry said facing us as a grey thing jumped out and landed on his back, tearing his back open. Showing his insides. I shot the thing four times. It was still standing but leaping around, I shot it straight through its bone, and it hissed, and ran off. I picked up jake, he was bleeding heavily.

"Nate carry him" I said

" no way, he's infected!" He said

"Terry grab my shoulder" I said, he grabbed my shoulder weakly. We walked past a hole in one of a cage, it's bars were sticking outward, e

When a long grey toungue rapped around Terry's leg, and tried pulling him through the bars, but Terry's bone got stuck on the outward facing bars, ripping his ribs apart . He was already gone, and I motioned for us to run. We ran for the car, that thing already on our trail after eating terry. We leapt into the car. And locked the door.

"Where's terry" jace asked

"That thing got him" I said pointing at what I found out later was a lion.

We decided the inn was the safest place for now. We started heading back when the grey cat flew in front of our vehicle, sanding us into the air. We hit the ground and the frames broke, when I woke up, Kurt was dead, already drug out of the car by the cat thing. I was fine and I dug other people out, jace was injured with a broken leg. But our major problem was the cat. We were trapped inside, but it kept sticking its head in the car. The third time I stabbed it throught the head, it wasn't dead, but It couldn't get out either.

"Sheva let it go, I'm sick of looking at it" said Nate

"It's either this, or we make a run for that bus over there" I said pointing at a bus that was on the road.

"Think we can make it that far?" Jace asked

"We'll see" I said.

I reached up to the seats, and grabbed a knife, breaking the cover off of the seat, exposing a survival secret. We had planned for trouble, so we had built in water bags into every seat, so there was seven water packs all together. Each carrying three gallons each.

"You're an angel, you know that?"jace said, grabbing a water bag

"I do try" I said, grabbing another" if we're running, I'm going to distract that thing out there"

"No, I will" jace said, glaring at me

"It's already decided, I'm faster, and I can last the longest" I said, not meeting eye contact

"You can't, that thing, it's nothing I've ever seen before" he started shouting

"Two weeks ago we knew nothing about anything!" I yelled back" if we want to survive, this is our last chance till dark. And remember last time, it almost took memo, and we can't call for help, our radio isn't working out here, so, if we do this, it's a 50 to 50 chance we live or die" I said, grabbing two screwdrivers

"What are you doing with those?" He asked, grabbing my hand

"I'm not wasting anymore amo on that bastard, get ready" I said, warning everyone"Luther, watch your brother . . . Carefully this time" Luther nodded

I kicked out the back window, and we sprinted for the bus. That thing was catching up to memo, and Luther, I fell to the ground,waiting for it to notice, it imidiatly turned in my direction. As it ran up to me, I grabbed my two screwdrivers and stabbed on on each side of its neck, and I rolled from beneath it. It charged me, I leapt over it,and landed on its back, grabbing the screwdrivers like handles. It bucked and reared in the air. Trying to fling me off. I grabbed my knife from my belt, and saw the weak spot on it head. I drove my knife through the scull and pushed forward, cutting its head in half. We fell together on the ground. I got up. Blood was all over my front. I ran for the bus. They opened the doors.

"Think it's alive?" Memo asked, hiding behind Luther.

"If it is, I'm not sticking around to wait for it" I said, hot wiring the bus.

My foot seemed bare. I looked down. It was missing, when I looked out the windshield. Something tall was approaching. It had double layers of canines. So it was not a friendly. There were three two large, one small.

"What are those?" Jace asked squinting through the windhshield.

"I think they're horses. . . Get down they're coming our way"soul said ducking behind the dashboard.

"Nobody move, or make a sound" I said, barley breathing it. But everyone seemed to hear.

Jace looked up"it's sniffing . . ." He began, looking confused"it's sniffing a boot"

"Who's boot is that" soul asked

I looked at my bare foot" . . . Mine" I whispered

"You know I won't let you leave" jace said. Not looking at me, just carefully at the boot.

"I have to, I'm more in danger of infection without a boot" I said"if I got my foot cut, and I stepped in infected blood, what do you think would happen, if I didn't notice, if I couldn't use the antivirus?!" I whispered urgently.

"You-you would die"he said, sadly

"Yes"I said, leaning forward. Laying my head on his shoulder

"You don't have to go!" He said, grabbing my hand

"But I do. Don't worry, I will be back" I began, his eyes piercing" I promise" I said, kissing his hand.
