Ricky the Rabbit

Once upon a time, there lived a rabbit named Ricky. Ricky was a popular rabbit, well-known for his awesome jump height. One day, Ricky was finding something to eat in forest. He entered an area that was unknown to him. He found a tree that had his favorite fruit, apples. But, when Ricky tried to take one, a wild hedgehog came flying at him! The hedgehog tackled Ricky down before the baffled rabbit could even lift a finger. "Hey!" Ricky said. "What's the big idea?" The hedgehog looked at him coldly. "What'd you mean?" said the hedgehog. "This area is reserved only for hedgehogs!" "What?" said Ricky obviously not knowing anything about the subject. "Look, just get out of here" said the hedgehog. Ricky does not give up easy, especially if it has to do with apples. The hedgehog turned around to go away. "Hold on!" said Ricky. The hedgehog turned around. "I want to keep this apple tree" said Ricky. The hedgehog looked at him with disgust. "This apple tree was planted on hedgehog territory" said the hedgehog. "It would be a crime to give it to someone else!" Ricky was getting tired of this furry wanna-be rabbit. "Look, I'll make a deal. If you beat me at a challenge, I'll give you the tree" "Depends, what's the challenge?" Ricky replied. "An old-fashioned how high can you jump challenge" said hedgehog. "Gotcha!" thought Ricky. "OK, I accept the challenge" said Ricky. So Ricky and Henry, the hedgehog, sent the word out to all the other animals in the forest. "Everyone come see! The greatest challenge is about to unfold!" announced Pete the Pelican. The animals excitedly came to the center of the forest to watch their beloved rabbit beat this naïve hedgehog. "OK, the rules are simple. Whoever jumps the highest height, with no help, wins!" said Rash the Raccoon. "Ha" thought Ricky. "Henry doesn't know what he's getting into!" "No one has ever jumped higher than me and it sure won't be a stupid hedgehog!

Ricky went first. He soared into the sky. He jumped higher than mountains, higher than the clouds. The hat was forest animals looked in awe. "That-that was amazing!" said Rash. The animals clapped and whistled for the conceited rabbit. "Ha, beat that Henry!" yelled Ricky. "Up next, make noise for my favorite buddy, Henry the hedgehog!" yelled Rash. The animals clapped just to be polite. Henry was not intimidated by the rabbit spectacular performance. Henry was not going to give this tree to Ricky. Henry concentrated; he pictured how high he would jump. Then, in a flash, it started to rain. This was odd, due to fact that it hadn't rained in a week. The animals ran to their homes not wanting to get sick. "Just give it up Henry!" said Ricky. "You were never going to win either way". But then, a bolt of lightning struck Henry! Henry yelled. He flew high into the sky. He flew so high that it he could see the whole forest. He landed in the Lion Lake. The animals heard the news and treated Henry with the best medicine in the forest. Henry woke up 20 minutes after. "OK, maybe not everyone heard but, it seems that Henry won!"

Some forest animal sighed in disappointment, having to have to cough the money for the "easy bet".

But some respected Henry. Though it was accident, it seems that the courage of Henry was enough to make the animals see that Ricky was not all that great. Ricky himself was not sad. He astounded, mostly because of luck Henry got, but also his perseverance. Henry was happy, and after a short meeting with the Hedgehog committee, Ricky got his tree. And now, he was truly happy. 1st story don't judge :)
