I watch

out of the corner of my eye.

She smiles weakly,

as he hands her the paper she dropped.

Their hands brush,

he smiles too.

I hear

eavesdropping completely on purpose

'you dropped this.'

he says,

and she laughs.

"Yeah, thanks."

she says

and he taps his hand

on the desk.

Bump.

I feel,

because everyone can,

the tension in the air.

It presses on our chests,

wondering what

happens net.

Woosh.

Relief,

as we

see his lips moves

hear his words,

feel the change.

"So, how have you been?"

We have just witnessed

an act of kindness

encourage a new friendship

born from a

burned relationship.
