Quid Pro Quo dialogue: Basically a conversation between 2 or more people and one believes the other is talking about one thing, but in actuality the other means something entirely different. Ex: You're dad is complaining about his boss, but (due to context) you think he is talking about you.

KEITH is a fifteen-year-old troublemaker whose recent pranks have a gone bit too far. When his MOM asks to have a "talk" with him at the kitchen counter, he's convinced she's sending him to military camp over the summer.

However, MOM has absolutely no idea about his most recent shenanigans, but that's because the school hasn't called home yet. She's actually impressed with her son's 'good behavior' of late and the fact, KEITH has held up to his promise about raising his grades. To reward KEITH, she wants to surprise him by letting him go to his favorite summer camp, Camp Prank Lake.

MOM

I think you know why I asked to talk with you, Keith.

KEITH

Yeah and I know I probably deserve it, but please don't send me there, Mom!

MOM

Oh, you know? Shoot, I was going to surprise you.

KEITH

Yes, I know and look, mom, I'm so sorry, I'm really am. I promise not to do it ever again!

MOM

Why not? You deserve it for what you've done.

KEITH

B-but mom, I even brought my grades up, just like I promised. Doesn't that count for something?

MOM

Of course it counts, that's why you're going.

KEITH

That's not fair, mom!

MOM

Calm down, honey! I don't understand why you're so upset. Isn't this what you wanted since you went to Camp Prank Lake last year?

KEITH

N-wait, did you just say Camp Prank Lake?

MOM

Yes, Camp Prank Lake. I figured it'd be a good way to congratulate you on doing so well in school. What did you think I've been talking about this whole time?

KEITH

Uh…(laughs albeit nervously, but still manages to make it convincing) Hahaha, got you, mom. Of course, I knew we were talking about that.

MOM

(Laughs) Yeah, I guess you did. Well, are you excited?

KEITH

Uh, Yeah! I can't believe it. Thanks, mom!

MOM

Well, you earned it, sweetie.

Suddenly, the phone rings and KEITH notices the collar ID.

KEITH

Hey, mom? Is it cool if I go hang out at Kyle's house?

MOM

(Picking up the phone, puzzled when she notices the number) Oh, sure, honey. Just be back by dinner. (Waves hand dismissively as she puts the phone to her ear, muttering) Wonder why the school's calling.

KEITH

(Practically sprints out the door, calling over his shoulder) Bye, mom!

MOM

(Briefly puts phone against shoulder, calling to Keith) Bye! (Puts phone back to ear) Hello? Oh hi, Ms. Visalia, what can I do for you? (Brief pause as she listens) What? About Keith's recent behavior? (Another pause, longer the first) HE DID WHAT?!
