Away

Asleep at a desk,
a child
dreaming.

Away, in a world
with no troubles,
no worries.

No classrooms, no teachers, no work,
just
dreams.

Dryads on toadstools,
Fairies in trees.

Knights on white horses,
Dragons bright green.

Rivers that laugh,
Willows that weep.

Snow and bright sunshine,
Green buds and red leaves.

Suddenly, black.
Just
Black.
Then white.

Blinding, stunning, biting, white.
Awake.

The teacher frowns.
The dream
is gone.

Authoress'/Poetess' Notes:

What I really like about this poem is that everything (or at least, almost everything) in it is opposite to something. The opposites are then "Away" from each other... if you look at it at a funny angle... also, the child is dreaming to get "Away" from reality.... or it could be that the kid's just tired... or bored. Yeah. I can relate... but I don't know. Tell me what you think! Please! ~ Kuri
