I pretended to sleep at midnight.
It's now been two hours and
I can hear the sea in my head.
The silence has been deafening.
I put music on but it only captured
my attention and did not close my eyes.
The fan in my computer is a grenade.
Every itch is a rifle and
every light a sun.
I slept in your bed without you.
Loneliness comes at three AM
and I will not sleep from then.
A mosquito hovers but does not land.
I have missed my perfect window
between tiredness and sleeplessness.
