Turner's Syndrome
What is it?
Turner's syndrome is a medical type found in girls.
It happens when a girl is born with one of two X chromosomes missing, or partly gone.
It is something some girls are born with, when they are
Blessed enough to be born alive. Most turners' girls die before they are even born.
Rates?
As an unborn baby, the chance for is 1%.
Did you know that 10% of all miscarriages are from it?
It affects about 1 in 2,500 girls and I am one of them.
The rate of girls with it is 1 out of 2,000.
Symptoms?
Some symptoms of Turners are kidney problems, thyroid issues, diabetes, shortness, low or no estrogen,
Learning difficulties, a "webbed" neck (extra folds of skin extending from the tops of the shoulders of the sides of the neck)a low hairline at the back of the neck, drooping of the eyelids, differently shaped ears that are set lower on the sides of the head than usual, low bone density (especially the bones of the hands and elbows), a larger than usual number of moles on the skin, and edema or extra fluid in the hands and feet.
I personally am short, overweight, I have hypo thyroid and have fractured way more than one bone because of it.
Treatment options?
Several treatment options are growth hormone
Injections witch I do, and estrogen replacement.
Diagnosis?
When are most girls diagnosed?
Usually as a baby, or teenager.
