I stared up at him

With wide eyes

There Big Brother stood,

A towering, yet seemingly harmless beast

With a bloody musket in his hands

And a hole in my mother's heart.

Come, he said, come back home with me

Sam appeared by his side

And put his right hand on my shoulder.

It was for the best, he said

I stared at their blue coats,

With gold buttons

Polished and shining.

Who knew

A saint's blood would taste so metallic

I still have that right hand

Hanging above my fireplace

Next to the musket

That killed everything Big Brother ever loved,

Polished and shining.
