Let me tell you, I just wanted a quiet school life here, but no. My bad luck is hereditary. I was recruited into a sports team where I do nothing, I have a secret admirer following me, and a guy who constantly gives me flowers, and spaceships keep me awake at night. That was only the beginning.

Alright. My rewrite begins. Enjoy.
Chapter 1
My name is Yuu Oshiro. Living across the street from the high school I attend can be quite convenient. I do have to go to the other side of town for the public library though. I smiled to my reflection in the bathroom mirror as I straightened my white blouse. I ran a comb through my dark red hair. I noticed that a couple of hairs were touching my shoulder, and cut them with my scissors to make it even. I found a navy blue sweater in the closet in my room and pulled it over my head. I would say my looks are okay. I mean, not that it matters. I don't really want to be noticed.
My mom woke up when I went into the living room. She stretched and looked out the window briefly and then got off the windowsill to sit at the computer. "If you don't hurry up, you will be late, Yuu. It's so early...I need another nap." She yawned and closed her eyes again. I held back a laugh and sat down at the entryway.
"I'm off to school, mom. See you later." I slipped on my shoes and backpack and headed out the door. I looked at my mail slot and saw a blue heart shaped card. I opened it and looked at it for a moment before throwing it away. There were only three words written there.
I love you.
When I reached the front gate of Kurosawa High School, I paused and looked up at the sky. A dull roar could be heard as a commercial space jet flew overhead and landed in the airport a few blocks away. That's where I assumed it landed, anyway.
"Do you know where room 112 is?" A boy my age had escaped my notice until he spoke up. He was beside me, and I let out a gasp purely by accident. The boy was a few inches shorter than me, he had beautiful leaf green hair and light green eyes, and behind his left ear, he was wearing a small communicator with a white cover.
"Are you the new exchange student from Earth?" I tried to keep my face straight. The planet I live on is called Earth, but there is intelligent life on other worlds. Long ago, our scientists came into contact with a civilized planet that was inhabited by a society which was very similar to ours. He fit the profile of an alien from the other Earth. I've read several books about foreign planets and colonies. It's an obsession of mine, but I wasn't expecting someone so...so cute. He looks almost like a girl. Glad he spoke up first.
He smiled at me and held a hand out to shake mine. "Yes. I moved in a few days ago, and my hosts have been very generous. My name is Edmond Truman, but you may call me Ed." He talked so formally, unlike someone else I knew.
I dug into my pocket and found my schedule. Then I shook his hand. "I am Oshiro Yuu, but I guess you can call me Yuu, if you want. Come this way. We share the same class." I kept myself from smiling and walked ahead into school.
I finally get to meet a person from another world. Lucky me!
As I was about to open the class room door, a shrill female voice called out to Ed and I. "HEY! You two!"
I froze where I stood because I thought I was about to be scolded by a teacher. Edmond turned around so he could see where the voice was coming from, and I looked around him to see a twenty-something year old woman walking briskly toward us. "Please come to the infirmary after school. We have something important to discuss." She stopped in front of me and crossed her arms. She was wearing jeans and a sweatshirt, and she had light brown hair, kept in a ponytail.
"Are you the school nurse?" Edmond inquired. I wanted to know as well. I'd never seen this woman before.
"Ha ha! Yes, I am." She said proudly, in a singsong voice. "I just started working here. My name is Nakahara Rui. And both of you are going to join my club. Or else. So meet me after school for the details." She said menacingly as she walked away. How did Ed know she was a nurse?
I let out a breath, and Edmond turned back to me. "We should get inside."
"Ah, yes." I opened the door to class and saw the teacher was already there.
"You two. There's two seats in the back by the window. Sit down now!" He yelled. I swear a vein actually popped on his balding forehead. Edmond sighed and walked to his seat, slumping in his chair. I followed quickly and sat behind him.
"Why does that man have such a large forehead?" Edmond turned around in his seat. Luckily the teacher was busy writing equations on the chalk board and didn't hear his whisper. The other female students nearby heard him and started giggling uncontrollably. I groaned when I realized something painfully obvious. Every girl in my class was watching Edmond Truman. He was probably attractive, I guess.
"What is that supposed to mean? He is going bald. Now be quiet and face forward, Ed." I looked down in guilt as I snapped at Edmond without thinking. He gave me a blank stare for almost a full minute.
"Let's have lunch together, yeah?" He slowly replaced his frown with a smile when he spoke again. "My hosts have a daughter, and I am having lunch with her too, so you should join us."
"Oh, er...No thank-" I began to refuse his offer, but I had failed to notice the teacher standing in front of Ed's desk.
"Perhaps you two would like to continue your conversation outside?" He went back to the front of the class and opened the door so we could leave. I silently packed up my bag and walked out while ignoring Ed. I want to know more about his home world, but I guess I can find information in books.
"Heh. Sorry about that. Can I make it up to you?" The green haired alien caught up to me as I got to the door.
I shook my head and went outside to go sit on a bench. "No, I don't mind. Do what you want." I opened one of my textbooks and began reading.
"I like it here so far." Ed sat down next to me, and I kept my book open, but stopped reading. It seemed as though he was giving me information of his own accord.
"Why?" I asked quietly.
"What are you doing out here?! You are supposed to be in class, Truman!" A girl ran from the entrance up to where I was sitting and skidded to a halt in front of Ed. She had dark brown hair, done in pigtails, and striking blue eyes. She rolled up the sleeves of her sweatshirt and held out her fists. "I can't believe you!"
I started to reply to her screaming accusations, but Ed immediately stood up. I glanced at his face and he looked incredibly excited at this girl's appearance. "I know we just met, and we come from different worlds, but I know for sure that we are meant to be together. I love you, Christina Z Thompson!" He knelt in front of the girl and took her hand. I suppose it was a romantic gesture, but he should have picked a better time and place for it.
I heard a low chuckle from the front gate and saw someone quickly hide before I could see him. I narrowed my eyes and returned to my book. Hope it wasn't some creepy pervert or stalker. Glad I carry a gun. Though that voice sounded familiar...
"What are you saying? We JUST MET! I hate this! My parents didn't even give me a choice. I have to live with you!" Christina pulled her hand away and attempted to slap Ed, but he dodged it. I couldn't help but watch this spectacle.
"Well, we should get to know each other." Edmond stepped towards the girl and leaned in for a... kiss? I held out a hand to try to stop him, but Christina retaliated with a punch to his jaw. I glanced back at the gate when I heard another laugh from that direction. I set aside my book and sprinted to the gate as fast as I could, to see my neighbor, Kanzaka, hiding behind the stone wall.
"Why are you spying on a high school?" I crossed my arms and leaned on the wall. He checked his watch nervously and sighed in relief.
"I wasn't spying on them. Uh, not on purpose. I am heading to work, okay?" He said defensively while tightening his hair tie. Kaoru Kanzaka lived in the apartment across the hall from mine, so I guess he was an acquaintance. He is over twenty years old, I think, and he has brown hair that would probably reach his shoulders if he didn't wear it in a low ponytail. He always complains about my noise level.
"Yeah, sure." I blew a piece of hair out of my eye and looked back to where Edmond was. He was lying on the ground, unconscious and Christina was trying to drag him into the building, without much luck. "I have to go. Don't be late to work." I smiled up at him and backed away while waving.
Christina was on her knees trying to wake Ed up when I went back to her. "Hold on. Could you keep an eye on him while I get the nurse?"
She nodded at me, so I hurried to the infirmary and found Rui Nakahara there. She looked away from her computer game to acknowledge my presence. "You were supposed to wait until after school. But oh well, shall I sign you up?"
"No. Edmond is unconscious, outside. Can you help me?" I went to her window and pointed out at the yard, where Ed was still lying down. He was awake, though, and had his head in Christina's lap.
"He seems fine to me. Is he your boyfriend? You should get him to join our club. And Chris is already signed up. Ha ha." She held a clipboard out to me while smiling innocently.
"No, he is the exchange student from the other Earth. He just got here." I wrote my name down. What the hell, I have nothing better to do after school. "So what is your club about?"
She set the board back down and went back to staring out the window. "This school needed a swim team, so I started one."
"...I don't swim. Take my name off." I went for the clipboard, but Nakahara blocked my hand.
"Help me out here. What can you do?" She pleaded with me.
"I know how to cook, clean, and I guess I study well." This day has been relatively less boring than the others. Reminds me of when I was thirteen.
"Great! Team Manager Yuu. That's what I will call you. Our club will be meeting on Thursdays and Fridays, and in about three weeks, we should get the paperwork done, so we can have the first meeting." Her tone of voice sounded like she actually thought I would agree to that. "It will be fun."
"Don't call me that, and I will join." I said casually. I started to leave, but Rui clamped a hand on my shoulder.
"I owe you one. Thank you. Best friends, right?" I shrugged out of her grasp and kept walking away.
"Not really. See you later." I waved as I walked out the door. Last year I was a freshman and I was unable to meet anyone after I moved here. Today, it came so naturally. I wonder why.
"Are you two okay?" I checked my watch and sat back down on the bench from before. Christina shoved Ed away and nodded at me. She was blushing despite her angry scowl.
"Yeah. We have reached an agreement." Ed sighed glumly and sat up. He touched a silver chain around his neck that I hadn't noticed before. Christina crossed her arms and kept glaring at the poor guy.
"Yep! I hate this guy so much. He has to stay away from me forever." She said with finality. I tried to imagine a way she could really avoid him while living in the same house.
"I am going to skip my next class too." I tilted my head back to see the sky. For sure I have a lot more I would like to ask Edmond. I found the page I had been reading before and resumed my studies.
"I'm going back to class." Christina grumbled as she stormed off and slammed the door behind her. Ed remained on the ground and pulled his knees close to his chest. He buried his face in his arms.
I hesitated before getting off my seat and kneeling in front of Ed. I believe he might have been crying. "Why did you do that?" I held out a handkerchief to him.
Edmond wiped his face with my cloth and looked up at me sideways. "Do you think love can develop in an instant?"
"You know it could..." I looked down and blushed. "I mean, I don't know anything about love. You must know more than I do."
"Allow me to teach you all about it, my girl." Oh no. I rested my face in my hand when I heard that voice. I forgot that Naoki Katsura was also going to Kurosawa High this year. He ran a hand through his silky black hair and held a pink rose out to me. Yeah. He is a damn idiot for following me here. But he is the only acquaintance I really have.
I groaned and accepted the rose. "Thank you. What do you want, Naoki?"
"I heard you joined the new swim team, so I signed myself up. We can be together." He smiled down at me with his deep blue eyes. "What do you think?"
"Meh. Stop following me. Thank goodness we aren't in the same class." I stood up and headed inside the school. It was getting cold outside and dark clouds were slowly moving in. Edmond stayed where he was despite that.
"Oh, but we are now. I changed classes for you." Naoki caught up to me and stayed by my side. "Isn't that awesome? I can flirt with you all the time." He winked at me as I leaned a hand on the wall to keep my balance.
