Madame Elana James sighed, running her long fingers through her inky hair. It had been a long week, almost too long to be a week. But then, her weeks were never short, but even then, this week was especially bad.

The killer was behind bars, the victim was a Miss Jenna Kale, the time of death was 8 o'clock, the weapon was a sword, and the motive was the Miss Kale had insulted Mr. Brown one too many times. The one thing Elana did not know was where the murder had taken place.

That was quite peculiar, actually. Usually they started out knowing where the murder had taken place. But with this crime, the murderer had turned himself in carrying the body and the weapon, and he had soon revealed the why. All autopsies pointed to eight as the time of death, or ten minutes before the body arrived. That had been five days ago.

Elana and the rest of the police had, in fact, searched the entire city for the site of the murder to no avail.

So, as Elana sat at her desk, poring through stacks and stacks of notes, a voice on the radio said, "We have another murder, Detective James."

Elana shot out of her seat, glad of an excuse to not sit at her desk. She marched out of the station and hopped into her car. She drove all of the way to East Kings Street.

She ducked under the yellow crime scene tape to see a body lying on the ground. Her heart beat faster and faster, and she thought she might faint. "But that is not possible," Elana muttered, frowning heavily. She ran her fingers through her hair once more, and then proceeded to scratch the back of her neck.

Her partner shot her a worried glance. Elana was usually one of the people never frazzled by a crime scene. But, this crime defied any bit of logic that could possibly have existed. Finally, a couple minutes later, she managed to splutter, "What?!"

Her partner rested his hand on Elana's shoulder. "What's wrong?"

Elana took a deep breath. "That woman is Jenna Kale." Elana set her face down in her hands, turning away from the crime for just a second. Her partner sat down next to her, also facing away from the crime.

After what could only have been a minute or so, they turned back to the crime scene. The body was gone.

The question remains: how could this have happened?
