Trick Skiing

Not everyone can do tricks the first time they get on water-skis, but I did. After repeated failed attempts to get myself to a standing position which ended in being dragged sideways under a wave of water, my instructor jumped in behind me. Since he was 6'2" and 250 pounds of muscle, he had no problem lifting my petite 115 pounds into the air and balancing me like a puppet. I was standing up and skiing (sort of) supported by him. The rushing water knocked off my right ski and I found myself skiing on one foot with other dangling in the air. He told me to kick off the other ski and stand on his. It worked and away we went. All was fine until a boatload of bikini clad women buzzed by us and my instructor decided to show off. He smiled big, twisted to wave at them, and suddenly we went flying - the skis in one direction, the two of us in the other – with him crashing down on top of me. Water is forgiving, fortunately, so no harm was done, except to his pride and my short-lived career as a trick skier.
