Star-Crossed: An English Sonnet
Young love is a many splendored wonder,
Blooming in the heart of the summertime,
But not surviving the summer's thunder.
Sometimes forbidden, it's almost a crime.
The Lord will not bless these two young lovers
But rather stand by and watch; they are doomed.
They try to keep their love under covers
Until they are eternally entombed.
Unable to confide in family,
Not even in the closest of their friends,
Ensuing unfamiliarity
Drives them to their very untimely ends.
If the stars had not set their fate that day,
Their deaths would have been a long way away.
