Thanks For Your Help
To the people who nursed me through the years-
All the authors who dried my tears
With fairy tales and mysteries, funny men of tin
I cherish all those memories up until my end
You never knew how much you helped me
When the other kids wouldn't let me be
I don't remember all your names, in truth
But I remember Cabbage Patch Kids and Dr. Suess
Now Dr. Suess, he's the bomb
But when you think about it, they all are
In stories with sometimes odd beginnings
Always expecting happy endings
I grew to know peace and all things good
And thought I wish they also would
But then life called me back to reality
And I had to grow up, I hope you see
And I learned that life isn't always grand
And I learned sometimes I had to take a stand
But no matter how old I get
No matter how many people I've met
I long to read your words again
Sitting, once again young and careless, in the sand
