The whites of the horse’s eyes blaze
like the noonday sun.
It takes off
like a maddened hunter.
Its hooves pound the ground
like the steady beating of drums.
It speeds toward the fence
like a hurled spear.
The crack of the whip stops its flight
like death.
Poetess’ Notes:
Kind of strange isn’t it? It was (yet another) class assignment... you were supposed to use 5 similes, which the teacher later changed to 1, but I already had it half way done so... Here it is! What do you think? I’m not to sure about the ending, but... oh well. It’s a comparison between a horse shying and taking off and a hunt... don’t ask me why. I really have no clue why I picked those two. It had to be about a sport. Well, review my poem for me please. Any kind of review is welcome. Thanks for reading!
