1.
the moon the moon
she shines brighter than the stars
sweet cool spring light
bathes my face so smoothly
she changes me to
fluid silver lightning
she sings to the humans
that once were wolves
2.
slides me back
to that time
when a many miles
in every forest
and many hunts before
the dancers in the night
so simple and so right
the magic is called from the moon
3.
the hunting people
with their minds chained to their beasts
every move a gracefully coiled thing
their true faces hidden behind their skin
looking at the world through amber eyes
they masquerade as humans in the day
veneers of culture carefully applied
on to their singing, raging hearts
4.
a ripple of skin
like a disturbed pool
of murky water concealing
the creature within
the pale husk pulled slowly away
by forces irresistible
by the call of the moon and the tides
and my true self crawls out
stronger, faster, keener
swift feet to ride the hidden paths
and my true nature to sense the wind
