Never Set Free

by Prongs

Take me down to the depths of despair so far below,
For so many cruel years I have wanted to go.
The anger of life burns and rips at my every emotion.
Causing sheer pain and grueling internal commotion.

Some say life is a breathtaking gift that we all receive,
Yet in my situation of utter terror I find that sentiment hard to believe.
If you had to suffer even one day in my worn shoes,
You would find that life is something you want to lose.

I rise in the morning to the sound of those around me,
Awakening from a surreal dream that has set us free.
The reality of my existence comes as a blow to my mind
The strength to survive another day is something I must find.
