Life is a vacuum
That's sucking you in
And tearing you down and wearing you thin
The Whole breaks apart
And the pieces get lost
The foundation grows brittle
The warmth turns to frost
And it's easy to watch as the colors all fade
Turning shameful and shallow
The dreams that we've made
The pain overwhelms
But Hope's somewhere behind it
It WON'T come to you
YOU have to go find it
Kittens survive
In the garbage we spew
Looking for life as they push their way through
Light refracts on the gasoline
Sloshed on the ground
Giving rainbows of color where filth should be found
And for every dead person
Whose loss goes un-mourned
Hope lies for mankind
In the children unborn
We are hopelessly flawed but at least we're still living
And with Life there is Hope, that's the promise God's giving
The pain is still there with the squalor and sin
But the fight for Hope lives and who knows, we might win
