AN: I wrote this poem at five in the morning because of a dream I had. The dream had nothing to do with dragons, the poem is riddled with metaphors I don't expect everyone to understand, but all the same try and enjoy it. This is for my one and only Dragon.

Sleep, Dragon, sleep

Today the war was long and weary
Now you bleed and I can clearly
See exhaustion in your face
Except the silence of the place

Sleep, Dragon, sleep

You fought the shadows, faced the light
Your roaring split the skies with might
Now take the calm this darkness brings
And rest the beating of your wings

Sleep, Dragon, sleep

The Phoenix who sets your world a'blaze
And lights your life with love's sweet haze
Will be there, soaring in your skies
Even if you close your eyes

So sleep, Dragon, sleep

Tomorrow brings unanswered prayers
Broken dreams and Dragon-slayers
You will fight … and win at length
But just for now conserve your strength

And sleep, Dragon, sleep

Lay to rest the beasts that chase you
Let sweet slumber come embrace you
Know my paper wings are spread
And I will fly above your head
To guard you from the Banshee's call
The Reaper's scythe, the Harpy's claw
This vigil I will always keep
So Dragon, rest your head and sleep.
