So Near, Yet So Far
By: Opal Soul

I could reach out to touch you
You're so close to me
In body, but not in spirit
I guess that's why you can't see

When you're here beside me
My feelings run high and over
Stealing glances, dreaming, dreaming, but--
Will this go on forever?

You are here
Here with me
So near
Yet so far

You smile at me
My heart stops beating
When you smile at another
The jealousy starts eating

Eating at my heart
Eating at my head
I only wish this love
I have for you was dead

You are here
Here with me
So near
Yet so far

Can't you hear my heart racing?
Can't you see my poor cheeks pale?
Can't you see I love you?
Won't you listen to my tale?

I long to say I love you
To you, the one I hold so dear
But every time I say it
You're so far that you can't hear

You are here
Here with me
So near
Yet so far

I long to hear you say
Three words that mean the world
But day by day passes
And my heart's still on a whorl

But there's always the hope
There's always the dream
And one day I hope
Your love for me will teem

You are here
Here with me
So near
Yet always, always
Always so far

Unrequited love! sighs Boy, do I know that feeling! This was crappy, also, in my opinion, but I, being the vain, strange person I am, like hearing the verdict from other people. I humbly await your reviews. JP! Flames, comments, and suggestions are very welcome at OR .
Thanks to: my wonderful spell-check. No thanks, however, to insensitive guys . . . smiles
"If I am a jewel, as a dear friend once flirtatiously dubbed me, I am an opal. Fiery ice swirling in the milk-white of innocence. Passion and compassion. Myself to the core." Surprisingly enough, I wrote that. It's just to clarify any questions on my strange pen-name.
