ACCEPTED TO THE MIDNIGHT KINGDOM

I look out on the sunset
The last one I will see
I don't see you out there
And you don't yet see me

Finally the sun has set
And you wake up from your sleep
To the beauty of your dawn
And from your bed you leap

The cold night surrounds you
Fills your senses with its magic
You see your body as a gift
While the others see it tragic

I head along the path for home
Not knowing it was yours
You find me in the stillness there
Outside the field of corn

You chase me down the roadway
I run screamming out of fright
You catch me but not kill me
You give me the kiss of life

Now I roam the midnight kingdom
Swooping for my prey
I wonder why its me you turned
When you had the choice to slay

The fact is now I have no sun
Only the stars and moon
I look in on my family
While they're dreaming in their room

I sail through the treetops
With speed and agility
It didn't take long to realise
My new reality

My new life is the one I have
And I would never leave it be
For I exist with the gods themselves
And a whole world yet to see...
