FRIENDS DON'T LET FRIENDS MARRY YANKEES FANS

(A family is around a table on a holiday. The girl near the end whispers something to her boyfriend and he nods)

KATIE: We have an announcement to make.

(The whole table turns to look)

KATIE: Jeff and I are getting married.

(There is not the typical happy response you'd expect. the whole table just sits there dumbfounded)

MOTHER: But Katie...he's a Yankees fan.

(Katie is talking to one of her friends on the phone)

FRIEND: Katie, I can't believe you're doing this!

KATIE: It's just a baseball team!

(Jeff is talking to one of his friends. We can see a whole bunch of World Series paraphernalia behind him)

FRIEND: Jeff, you're marrying a Red Sox fan!

JEFF: Come on, Chris. When she sees all this (motions to his World Series stuff) she'll HAVE to become a Yankees fan!

(At marriage counseling)

COUNSELOR: You are aware that you are fans of opposing baseball teams.

(Katie and Jeff look at each other and roll their eyes)

(At the wedding)

PRIEST: ...Until you are parted by a baseball game?

Subtitle: TWO MONTHS LATER

(The family is at a baseball game. Jeff is wearing a Red Sox cap with an L in place of the B. Katie is wearing a Yankees cap with a red circle and a slash around the NY. Jeff is chanting "Boston sucks" while Katie is chanting "Go Red Sox." Katie's parents look at each other and sigh)

FATHER: We told them this would happen.

(Katie's mother shakes her head)

VOICE-OVER: Friends don't let friends marry Yankees fans
