Longing

By: Shanchan

A few swift strides bring me under
The moon lit sky. My heart aches as
It longs for the comaraderie
Of my friends. Yet I am alone,
As my solitary spirit
Wanders slowly through the heaven
Of glittering bodies above
An endess flow of sorrow
Brings pain to my soul as smiling
Faces of those I have loved and
Lost flash past my mind, reminding
Me of the joy that vanished like
A summer's storm. Falling to my
Knees, I cry out to the tranquil
Vastness before me, to only
Hear a high pitched whimper emerge
From the darkness within my soul.
