A tainted night upon us

This world is tainted.
The darker colors showing through.
Our rose colored glasses,
Now cracked and broken.
No longer is the sky of an innocent blue,
But a colorless gray,
That stretches across the vast horizon.
The Earth weeps for our foolishness,
Our hate, our anger.
No longer can we see past our differences,
Now that night had fallen upon us.
And so we cried.
Wherein as our nation wept,
An eagle shed one tear.
A silver drop of moonlight,
That fell unto the sea
And rippled out
Forth where it fell
Until the sea as still as glass,
And the Earth as still as stone.
Until this world gone bitter,
bleak and bleary.
Yet in my hands I hold a light,
A flickered flame of hope.
The dreams of what tomorrow may bring,
And chance what's yet to come.
In our hands we hold the future.
Yet..... we'll never be the same,
Now that night has befell us all.
