Beautiful

She used to dance beneath the starlight,

And she used to argue with the moon,

Over who was brighter, the sun or her,

She used to laugh with the faeries in the woods,

And she used to sing to the Pied Piper’s son,

In languages forgotten by the peoples of the land,

She used to ride upon the wings of butterflies,

To a stream where she could watch life flow,

To a still pond where she could dip in her fingers,

And the ripples would spread forth like dreams,

She used to sleep so peacefully, so sweet,

And she used to roam the world by night,

Discovering hidden paradises in the shadows

As her heart loosed her imagination

And her mind set her spirits soaring,

She used to howl with the wolves,

Sorrowful tones echoing and releasing the pain,

She used to speak to the birds in riddles and tongues,

And she used to be more than a phantom,

Before the banishment,

Before such wonders were forbidden,

She used to be free.
