It was on a gray summer day that Luke Sanderson came to visit his best friend Mike in Red Valley. Luke and Mike were best friends ever since they were babies. They hadn’t seen each other for months. They wrote to each other everyday on the internet. Luke was going to stay at Mike’s house for a week.
Luke stepped out of the taxi, pulling his backpack over his shoulders. As the taxi left Mike ran out the door.
They slapped high fives.
“Long time no, see Luke,” Mike said.
“Good to see you too Mike,” Luke said, patting him on the back.
“You’ll never guess what I pulled off,” Mike said, in a cocky tone.
“Just what is that,” Luke said, hiding a grin.
“I got my parents to let us have the house for the whole day. I think they went to a business conference or something. But isn’t it great!”
“Awesome,” Luke said, agreeing.
“I have a great idea,” Mike said, “let’s go to the cemetary and look for old graves, like we used too.”
“Sounds great!” Luke said, “besides nothing ever happens in Red Valley.”
They walked down Dillinger street towards the cemetary. They caught up in
conversation along the way. They pushed open the rusty iron gate, with a groan. The cemetary looked dismal and empty as they explored the old graves.
“Hey Luke,” Mike said, “this grave was made in 1817.”
“Cool!” Luke said.
They explored for hours, not noticing as time flew by. Then all of the sudden the
sky started getting dark.

“Hey Mike,” Luke said, “I think we should go, it’s getting kind of dark.”
“Good idea,” Mike said.
They walked back to the entrance of the cemetary.
“Luke,” Mike said, “I bought you this best friend chain necklace for good luck.”
“Thanks,” Luke said.
They put it around their necks. They went to push open the iron gate, but there was a padlock on the gate.
“What the heck is this!” Luke said, “how can the gate be locked from the inside?”
“Well, maybe we could climb over the gate?” Mike suggested.
They looked up at the spikes at the top of the fence, surrounding the cemetary.
“Or maybe not,” Luke said.
Mike just nodded his head, his face getting pale.
“What’s wrong?” Luke asked.
“We have to get out of here,” Mike said.
“What are you talking about?” Luke asked.
“Well,” Mike began, “some kids have said that there are creatures in black robes, that roam the cemetary at night. They said that the creatures take kids and make them do their bidding.”
“What’s so bad about that?” Luke asked.
“Well,” Mike said, “some kids who are pure of heart are sacraficed and must become a creature of the night.”
“Well in that case,” Luke said, “we better get out of here. I’ll boost you over the fence then you pull me up, okay.”

Then suddenly there was a noise behind Luke. As he turned around he saw a creature in a black robe. Then something hit him in the head. Before he fell unconcious he saw Mike with a branch falling to the ground on his knees, with his head in his hands. And a creature standing behind him. Then everything went black.
