Prolog

Once There was a land full of magic, ruled by a wise king, The nations surrounding him joined with him giving up all rights to their thones, The nations lived in peaceful harmony until one of the decendents of the royal lines felt he should rule. The princes battles were bloody indeed and the Peaceful villages were forced to fight to defend their very lives.

The light flashed and the sound of swords meeting rang over the battlefield. A blond woman ran toward the fighting, behind her several people followed crying for her to return to the safety of the village. Reaching a wounded man she flung herself over him. "Derrick, my love, please say you'll be alright." "Anna, why are you out here?" He gritted from behind clenched teeth.

Anna looked at him as she finally noticed that the battle still raged around them. "Keaira and Celeste have gone missing, and when I heard that you were wounded and thought they had come to you. You know how your daughters are devoted to you, my love."

"Perhaps one." He agreed so softly she didn't hear. His battle weary eyes searched the field and saw two children running toward him the Amber flame of her older sister's hair glowing behind her raven-haired counterpart as they avoided the battle with an amazing ease. "KEARIA! CELESTE!" He croaked as they got nearer. "Papa!" The younger girl exclaimed as she reached him Her voice drenched with worry. "You're hurt Papa!" "'Leste! Why are you out here? You should be in the village; not running about causing your mother to leave the safety of it! Kearia! You are the oldest of my children you should know better. Now I want you all to get back to the village; and DO NOT LEAVE under any circumstance again. Understand?"

The girls nodded Shamefaced. and turned to face their mother as the healer finished working on their father and mumbled something under her breath.

"What it is old woman?" He asked as he gathered his sword to fight again.

In a haunting lilt the old woman spoke, her eyes remarkably young as she gazed on the two children "A child of both the day and night, born of a nation torn in two, shall rise into glory for she shall be the instrument, the very tool that brings about the reunion of the clans."

Derrick shook his head; "I have no time for you prophecies, woman. Go and tend to the others. We will need every able bodied man to win this battle." The Woman looked at him her eyes losing the youth and returning to rheumy and sad. "Mi lord do not fight yet you are to weak, you will not last this battle." Derrick spoke in low tones "Go and tend to the wounded woman, I am fine." With that Derrick marched back into the fray determined to reach Younger prince's side.

Celeste was walking back with her mother when she realized she had left her doll by where her father had lain. "Mama! I have to go back and get Christabel!" She took off running toward the battle again. Anna wobbled slightly with dizzyness, Keaira shook her head and turned to run after her. "Go on mother I will bring her back. You know how she is." Keaira's eyes already following her sister and an other cloaked figure moving on the field.

Anna Majors nodded and walked into the gate of the village as her daughters ran to the battlefield. Celeste had just picked up her doll and was scolding it on why it shouldn't run off when Keaira reached her. "Come on 'Leste. We have to go back."

"Wait Aira. Let's find Papa first? Please?" Keaira nodded and they looked at the battle for a moment. They were an odd picture each scanning the field for someone else, the 15 year old redhead and her 5 year old sister. Keaira's eyes on the cloaked elder prince, his eyes alight with the fierce passion of war as he fought with his brother Prince David who was flanked by Derrick Majors.

Celeste grabbed Keaira's hand. "Look Aira! I found him! He's fighting next to PRINCE DAVID!" She spoke with awe filling her voice. "So he is Celeste. Come on let's go." Keaira turned and Celeste released a high pitched scream of pain. "What is it?" Keaira exclaimed spinning and looking at the area her sister was staring at ashen faced.

She looked just in time to see their father push Prince David down and the sword of the Elder Prince slide through his chest. The twin screams filled the air. Keaira grabbed her eyes wild as she finally realized what exactly was going on. "Come on 'Leste! Papa said to go back to the village." Keaira picked up the sobbing girl and ran her eyes filling with tears but she refused to cry. As they reached the village she placed Celeste on her feet. "'Leste, you have to stop crying now. We are Major's we don't cry." She stated her voice turning Harsh on the last sentence. "But Aira-" "No! Stop crying! Only the weak cry." Keaira shook her sister until Celeste's sobs stopped and then led her through the village gates.

The village rejoiced at the defeat of the evil prince that night, Derrick Majors was declared a hero for the saving of Prince David. For the Major's family it was a bittersweet victory as the next day Derricks last wishes was read. As they left the town hall the old woman watched her eyes once again young and full of life as she gazed at the Major children.
