Deep, crystal clear water was lapping against the side of the boat. Krista sighed as she looked out over into the ocean. “It’s so beautiful out here…” a warm hand enveloped her own as she gazed upon the smooth, blue liquid.

“See, I told you. You were the one who didn’t want to come out here!”

“Hey, I was really wrapped up in work!”

Krista turned back around and faced her boyfriend, Josh. He smiled warmly at her and crushed the girl in a hug. She sighed, and wiggled back around, almost immediately dozing off. Josh grinned again, but rather sadistically this time.

“I love you so much…but I see how you flirt with your other guy friends! If I can’t have you to myself, then no one will have you at all!”

Gently picking up his girlfriend, he took her to the small yacht’s cabin. Laying her down on the bed, the demented boy lovingly stroked her cheek, smiling sadly.

“Sorry, hon’. This is for the both of our goods.”

Quite suddenly, the young man violently grasped the pale neck, squeezing as tightly as he possibly could. Krista’s eyes shot open, and she scrabbled at his hands, choking for forbidden air. He was crying rather bitterly, salty tears dripping onto the frightened girl’s face, giving the impression that the girl herself was crying. Josh was mumbling something over and over, as he pushed harder and harder.

“I love you, I love you, I love you, I love you, I love you!”

Krista’s eyes widened a bit more and upon impulse she shot her right hand out, jabbing her boyfriend in the eyes. Josh roared, releasing her neck, instead bringing his hands to his pained eyes.

The hysterical ebony haired girl lashed out at the still shouting teenage boy, landing a sharp blow on his jaw. Krista ran outside, dashing towards the cabin of the boat. She was intent upon reaching the radio it held within and calling for help. All of a sudden, a hand wrapped around her ankle and she was pulled down to the rough deck. The same hand dragged her backwards, and Josh straddled her legs, seething.

“Where do you think you’re going?”

He rewrapped his hands around her already black and blue neck, but she desperately tried to jab at his eyes again. However, he was ready for her, and merely turned his head away, sighing.

“Why can’t you just accept my love and feelings for you? I wanted to give us the chance to commit double suicide, buy you won’t take up on my offer! We could’ve been together for eternity!”

Krista jerked her leg up, kneeing Josh in the groin. He gasped and his grip slackened, allowing for her to push him off. She dashed to the cabin door, yanking upon its handle. To her dismay, it was locked from the inside.

“Heh, ow, he, ow! You-ow- can’t escape that easily! I thought this would happen, so I took many precautions.”

Josh had by now pulled himself to a kneeling position, a knife in his hands. With tremendous effort, he stood up, staggering closer to Krista. She dashed to the other side of the boat, looking over the port side. The little boat had by now drifted into the middle of the ocean and was in shark infested waters. Krista ran to the starboard side of the cabin, hiding and shaking in fear. Josh’s dragged out footsteps came nearer, and she picked up the closes thing: a frying pan from the kitchen area. As he rounded the corner, calling her name, Krista swung the iron skillet at him. Unfortunately, the blow merely deflected off his shoulder, and he grunted, knocking the pan away. In the same movement, he slashed at Krista’s arms.

“C’mon, sweetheart! Don’t make this any harder than it has to be!”

Josh backed Krista to the mast of the boat and swung once her back touched the wood. She ducked instinctively and the knife was embedded in the textured wood. Krista took this opportunity to snap kick his elbow, breaking it. Josh cursed aloud and punched her with his good arm, sending her staggering backwards. She luckily recovered before falling off the side of the boat, and dashed forwards, rolling under his arm. Coming to a stop, she grabbed the knife’s handle. Yanking on it, the terrified teen attempted to yank it out.

“Krista, don’t push your luck!”

Just as Josh grabbed the back of her shirt, Krista tugged the knife free. She whirled around, slicing him in the face. He roared and dashed at her. She held the knife out, turning away and closing her eyes. Josh didn’t see the knife, and impaled himself on it as soon as he reached her. Staring at the hilt in his chest, stupefied, he reached out a hand to Krista, blood trickling from his mouth. Krista screamed and side-kicked him, sending him wobbling backwards. He gazed reproachfully at her, his mouth forming the words ‘I Love You’. Taking a step back, he allowed himself to fall over the side into the shark waters below. The voiceless girl finally regained her speech, collapsing to the deck, clutching the sides of her head.

“Oh. My. God. What. Have. I. Done?”
