Gone are the Myths
The fairies fly away saddened
The mermaids leave their solitary rocks in the sea
The Sphinx leaves her post of guarding secrets
The Hounds of the Hunt crawl, tails between their legs, their blood
chilling howls no longer echoing through the valleys
All because of this New age and time
Where trust is no longer put in the elements
When we, the humans who kept them alive with our stories and songs, have
forgot them
When no longer 'round the campfire do we exchange the tales of mythical
beasts
Nor do we observe those sacred traditions, of protecting ourselves from
those nightly monsters.
In this new age and in this new day we cannot spare a moment for these
shreds of memories handed down
So thrown to the wind to they go and with them our imagination.
