Ai no Yume

Dreams come in groups like millions
Of tiny fish that swarm and bite
Gently
At my legs
They broil and saunter in my head
A million tiny, searing brands
A million tiny fireflies that sting
They come and stay with me like
An unwelcome intruder in my sanity
Or like the slight, cold disturbing thought
That I am real
I am real and I am here now
As I shouldn't be
Sometimes I think you in my dreams and
I realize this can't be me,
Myself,
My very own self,
Sending thoughts out like paper cranes,
Destined to flap once and then collapse.
But
In the end --
The
Very
End -- it can't possibly be me,
This turmoil of turbulent wind and water,
This flaming surface of emotion,
This black, uncertain, wandering fog of terrors,
That.
Craves.
You.
It can't be.
