I strain to see the faraway promise that was once given to me
One that said: "I'll love you for eternity."
But my pure eyes can't believe
The vision that is set before me
There you are with another girl
Gently stroking the tendrils of her hair
As you once did to me
And my heart aches, my head reels, I want to get away
I run, and run, to where I'm going is unknown
And soon I end up in our special place
With tears of sorrow running down my face
All around me is you, once something that was so glorious...But is now so painful
Everywhere I look I see your smiling face, your gentle eyes, your refined grace
Now I fear the flame in your heart has frozen and cracked
And I daren't try to re-kindle it
That faraway promise so out of reach...
