I’ve decided to post up some of the writings I do at school. Every now and then we are asked to write a journal entry on a certain topic. This is one of my best ones- a little diddy on fate and what role it plays in life. It is in no way meant to be a story, merely an essay of sorts. Think what you want; I may be adding more journal entries in the near future. Now that we started Romeo and Juliet, there will me many.
In many ways, fate can play a role in my life and others. However, I think that not only a touch of fate but also the decisions of myself and those around me affect my life. In a way, fate is crucial. Without it, we would simply wander through life in a daze: destinations never clear, tasks always unsure. Fate can offer a sense of direction, but it cannot govern our entire life. If so, the restriction would be felt- a sense of "my whole life is going to pass, and I am allowed no say in what happens." The feeling of adventure received with the knowledge that a certain action can have unknown consequences- both good and evil- allows us to live with not only the sense of security given by fate but of freedom to make your own choices and influence others around you.
Fate is defined as a predetermined destiny- a road that you have no choice but to take and all decisions that you will make have already been made. This may hold a bit of truth. In my opinion, this destiny is simply on of many choices that I or any other creature can choose from. Life sets before us many paths to take, and all of them may hold their own fate. There is no way in knowing what path you may travel until you come upon it. This is where destiny leaves and you are left to make your own decisions. Whenever you choose a new path, there are always results that are uncontrollable: happenings where only fate can rule. But it is up to you to determine which path, with its myriad of consequences, you will take. A friend’s words, so simple, can influence all these choices; everything you do in life can be altered by a single action of another being.
But you, yourself- above all- have the power to control your own future. Even fate has its compromises. You alone have the final say in how you act in life. What happens around you may not be so controllable- fate plays its roles here- but your own thoughts and actions can be decided by you and you alone. Only you can choose what life you want though what happens after that decision you may never be able to influence. Only you can choose to refuse or accept an offering of any sort- good or fell.
In all, everything about your life is up to you.
