A/N: Just another poem about things in life that are not all that pleasant.

The Flower

I listened to the wind and it betrayed me

I held a flower in my hand and it died

I listened to the fool, and then he played me

I held you close to my heart and I cried

You told me move forward towards the day

I tried to walk in straight lines but I turned

You told me that love was the only way

I tried to make my heart warm but it burned

I wrote you a song without a melody

You try to make me play it, but I don’t

I wrote down a word, but it’s too hard to see

You try to make me say it, but I won’t

My life is full of razorblades and loose ends

You tell me just to just tie them and let go

My life is just an empty stage; where are my friends?

You tell me that it’s my fault, and I know.

I tried so hard to touch you and you moved away

I couldn’t move, my hands chained to the floor

I tried so hard to make you stay, and even then

I couldn’t stop the slamming of the door

I listened to the wind and it betrayed me

I held a flower in my hand and it died

I listened to the fool, and then he played me

I held you close to my heart and you lied
