The broken heart is a handy thing
That often teaches you
Things, many things, all about love
That you never knew you knew.

The broken heart is a passageway
That shan't allow you pass
Until you piece together the shards
Of that broken gate of glass.

The broken heart is a painful way
Of learning your destiny;
Harmless, God's way of showing you how
It was never meant to be.

Author's Notes: Every now and then I'll write something contemporary that is often written about...this is one such work. It's one account of the way I feel when something bad happens in my life and everything seems to fall apart. I hope someone can relate. =)
