"Through Heaven"

Forever are the skies hazy,

and the dreams drift on

through heaven to reach the stars,

teaching us to breathe in.

The dreams drift on

in anticipation of a promise

that teaches us to breathe in

the scent of what we mean.

In anticipation of a secret

left untold for years on years

the scent of what we mean

in a meaningless world grows musty.

Left untold for years on years

we find ourselves on a threshold

in a meaningless world, growing dusty,

waiting for eternity to spill over the edge.

We find ourselves on the threshold

of nowhere and everywhere at once

waiting for eternity to spill over the edge

of a cup alreayd to full.

Nowhere and everywhere at once

closes in on us, a bewildering attachment

to a cup already to full,

forgiven of all stresses and untruths.

Closed in too tight, a bewildering attachment

gives everything in the world a meaning,

forgiven of stresses and untruths,

a gift of eternity frees a heart.

Give everything in the world a meaning,

forever are the stars hazy

as a gift of eternity fills a heart,

taking me through heaven to the stars.
