OK, this is a Ficcy I wanted to write….it might help some people….or hurt some people. I’d like to start off with from Alan’s Jackson wonderful song, Where Were You (When The World Stopped Turning) I’m making no money off of it, I just thought it fit the mood.
“Where were you when the world stopped turning that September day
Out in the yard with your wife and children
Or working on some stage in L.A.
Did you stand there in shock at the sight of that black smoke
Rising against that blue sky
Did you shout out in anger, in fear for your neighbor
Or did you just sit down and cry
VERSE
Did you weep for the children who lost there dear loved ones
And pray for the ones who don't know
Did you rejoice for the people who walked from the rubble
And sob for the ones left below
Did you burst out with pride for the red, white and blue
And the heroes who died just doin' what they do
Did you look up to heaven for some kind of answer
And look at yourself and what really matters
CHORUS
I'm just a singer of simple songs
I’m not a real political man
I watch CNN but I'm not sure I can tell you
The difference in Iraq and Iran
But I know Jesus, and I talk to God
And I remember this from when I was young.
Faith, hope and love are some good things he gave us
And the greatest is love.
VERSE
Where were you when the world stopped turning that September day
Teaching a class full of innocent children
Or driving down some cold interstate
Did you feel guilty cause your a survivor
In a crowded room did you feel alone?
Did you call up your mother to tell her you love her
Did you dust off that bible at home
Did you open your eyes in hope it never happened
Close your eyes and not go to sleep
Did you notice the sunset for the first time in ages
Speak to some stranger on the street
Did you lay down at night and think of tomorrow
Go out and buy you a gun
Did you turn off that violent old movie your watchin
And turn on I Love Lucy reruns
Did you go to a church and hold hands with some strangers
Or stand in line and give your own blood
Did you just stay home and cling tight to your family
And thank god you had somebody to love
Chorus x2
And the greatest is love.
And the greatest is love.
This is the story of where I was. I would like you to e-mail me or review with the story of where you were, and I’d like to post it as a new chapter on this story/ e-mail me at with 9/11 in the subject line…I don’t know if any one has done this. But, this is for the 6th month anniversary. I know I’m a bit late, but, I just really wanted to do this….and now, my story of 9/11.….
My Story
September 11th started out as any other day. Besides the fact that I woke up at 4:00 and didn’t go back to sleep. It was a Tuesday, as you know. I was at my mom’s house. My hamster had given birth to a few babies and they had escaped so my mom and I were searching for them at Four o’clock.
We searched until it was time for me to get ready for school.
We never turned on the T.V.
At about 7:30 I left for school. The planes hit at around 6:00 my time, in Vegas. I got in my car pool’s car and the radio was all people talking. No Music.
My best friend, Angela, turned around in her seat and said,
“Did you hear what happened?” I said no and we listened to the radio. The Pentagon was hit now, too. Finally we got to school, but I didn’t get the full velocity f it all.
In my second period class, my teacher, Mr. Sessa, explained to us about everything. And then, a girl, said the unbelievable:
“Why should it matter to us? It happened in New York.” I don’t think she understood the magnitude of the situation. I sure hope she didn’t, and I hope she still feels bad.
Anyway, nothing really happened through out the day, other than a few big macho boys saying : “I’m go over to that country and kick those guys’ asses myself.” True Vegas men…
When we drove home, we all went into my other best friends, house, Holly. We sat in front of the T.V. and watched the planes go into the building, watched it fall, watched the papers fly, and the heroes do their jobs. We sat in silence. Holly, me, and Angela…staring. That’s when it hit me…A lot of people died. Our country had been violated.
The next few days were even more of a shock. The videos of the happy Muslims, and Afghanis, passing out candy to their children.
After the shock, I knew what to do. I got some red, white and blue Mardi-Gras beads. I wore them to school. Got a flag for the window.
I prided my country. I love my Country. America, Land of the Free. My home, forever and always.
I thank all of the Heroes! I thank the Fire-fighters, they set a real example to me. I’m thinking of being a fire-fighter when I’m old enough. I thank the heroes who gave their lives to take back the plane. I thank those who were innocent, they are heroes as well. They brought America together, and that, is the greatest honor anyone can have.
God Bless America.
The other day, I listend to god Bless the U.S.A. the other day, and the radio station had mixed in parts where other countries asid things like; "We stand shoulder to Shoulder with Americans, or WE are with America all the way" That sent shivers dwon my back, and it made goose bumps appear on my arms. It truly was wonderful thing. So, not only God Bless the U.S.A. but God Bless our Allies!!
