Yellow

The newborn baby sat

Contented in her cradle,

Wrapped in a soft yellow blanket.

On the nursery walls

Honey-colored bears danced

Upon a yellow background.

Outside the windows,

Autumn trees donned dazzling golden gowns of

Lemon-colored leaves.

Lemon?

In the kitchen a woman sat, happily

Pouring lemon juice

Into a crystal glass.

In her room, the baby laughed.

On the carpet a fat tabby cat lay

In closed-eyes happiness,

Warm in a yellow square of sunlight.

Outside the window, long

Yellow wheat fields rippled in

Golden waves.

In the lemon sky,

The soft morning sun was rising,

Giving a yellow butter-colored light to the day
