What is Courage?

'When you are afraid of the dark and
You want to run,
When evil comes nearer and
You want to hide,
But then you stay,
And look it in the eye
You don't laugh,
You do what's right
And you fight your fear,
To save those that you love

When the fires of Insanity
Prey upon your sanity,
You want to avoid it,
When you listen to the lies
That others told,
You don't want to listen,
Then you release your mind
And release your light,
You fight your fear
To save yourself

When you cannot fight
The enemy of the mind,
And the other's light is not strong enough,
You face your fear
When Death looms near
And others have given up hope,
You pray for light
You make the choice
To stay
Or to run

To be a coward of something,
And to stay and face it
Is the power of courage
When there is no light
In the darkness to see,
And the solider keeps marching
To his death that he has long feared,
That is the power of courage

To laugh in the face of fear
Is cowardice,
To say you are not afraid of anything,
Is foolish,
To say you are afraid of fire,
So afraid that you have a phobia,
And you go into a burning building to save children,
Is courage
