Loner Once Again

I came into this world alone.

We all do.

We make friends.

We make enemies.

Some friends become enemies,

And some enemies, friends.

But everyone has one friend.

Tried and True.

Through thick and thin.

Except the Loner.

She surrounds herself with false friends,

To make up for the empty feeling.

But realizes, eventually,

That the title 'Loner'

Is beautiful.

A kind of stubborn pride

And painful honor.

The Loner is destined to walk alone.

The Loner is forbidden a friend.

The Loner is fated to live.

Death will not be granted by the kindest of gods to the Loner.

She is set to walk her path.

She will not falter.

She will not turn back.

She cannot stray.

The path is long

And there is no help.

And when she reaches the end,

The Loner will not be rewarded.

She will begin a new, longer path, on which she will remain alone.

Quiet and withdrawn.

She shies from those who would hurt her-

Everyone.

She avoids speaking.

Words are the cause of destruction.

She is a loner because she is blind-

Blind to the other Loners around her.

She is a loner because she is different-

Different from the false friends she surrounded herself with.

Different because she is a Loner.

A Loner who thought she had escaped destiny.

A Loner who thought she had friends.

A Loner who has finally accepted her fate.

A Loner once again.
