I don’t want to be out here right now.

The month was June, that glorious preliminary month of summer. School had been out for but a short while, but for me, being out on a road trip with my family was the last thing that I wanted. It may sound strange, I suppose, for it was the season for vacations and a little R&R, especially from school. Summer is the time when school is nullified for minors, leaving them with a crazy amount of free time. But for me, things were different. This summer, I was out of school literally. I had graduated with honors in May, and a whole new feeling of freedom I had felt on that day I had stepped up to receive that scroll of achievement. Yes, school was out. I had survived. Summer times before this one, this blessed on, where marred events such as mandatory volunteer service to society, reading schedules, and the like. So idiotic, making us do stuff like that. All in preparation for next years classes. On top of everything, just last year I had my folks hounding me to get a job because it “would be good for me.â€
