"I Am a Curious Child"

I am a curious child.
I wonder why we cry.
I hear the twiddling of thumbs.
I see time slipping by.
I want to float among the clouds.
I am a curious child.

I pretend to be grown-up.
I feel sad that I don't understand your feelings.
I touch the glass as my face presses against the window.
I worry about my family.
I cry when I've hurt myself.
I am a curious child.

I understand that nothing is certain.
I say hollow words that have no meaning.
I dream, never fully waking.
I try to stop my world from breaking.
I hope my life will have some meaning.
I am a curious child.
