WATCHING OVER YOU

I gaze at you

Watching over you

With my protective eyes

As you walk down the sidewalk

Deep in thought

Not knowing where you feet are taking you

You look like something from a dream

My dreams

Your shirt sticking to your back

From the hot summer weather

Silently sipping your Coke

Led by your feet

Led by your heart

Then you let out a melancholy sigh

Looking at your heart’s desired destination

The place we first me

Where I fell in love with you

The first time I looked into your eyes

The park our hideaway form the world

My family

My parents couldn’t see it

Just how much I really loved you

Or how much I love you still

You brought light into my life

When I needed it most

Every time I saw your face

Your smile

Looked into your eyes

Heard your voice

Or listened to your heart filled laughter

You brought that light to me

Even when you were upset with me

I love you and always will

It took them that dreaded day

To realize just how much I care for you

And you me

When I laid in that hospital bed

And you lifted your voice in song

To sing me our song

Just one last time

How clearly I remember the last time our lips did linger

Then I murmured my last promise to you

“I love you and always will

I’ll be waiting for you

Until we meet againâ€
