The Royalist Plot

In former times, there was a kingdom that was situated on a small continent in a fantasy world. The few small lands that were populated were on bad terms with each other. It was a dark age in which power and sword ruled everywhere.

However, there came a time where the people of the kingdom realized, (after a repetitive loss of lives on the case of feeble attempts at war), that a government reigning over all provinces was desperately needed for the well being and evolution of the kingdom. Thus, the elections began.

From each of the sixteen provinces that composed the continent, a representant was chosen. Sixteen men were bestowed Baron, sixteen men built citadels, and sixteen men were given power over the armies their provinces housed. And so, the Noble War raged, for years.

On a warm July evening, the war ended. Four Barons remained and one of them forced the other three to submit. This Baron then became king. He let the remaining three Barons choose the land each of them wanted as his home province, and gave them the liberty of keeping what was left of their armies.

So gritting their teeth, the three Barons let the king have his will and settled in their new home provinces. The king ruled fair and true, giving his people, the Royalists, a chance at fortune and prosperity. The king ruled over thirteen provinces; highlands, swamps, bushes, hills, grassy plains, deserts, and many others. Unfortunately, his lordship over all this lasted but a short three years. When he reached the age of thirty-two, the king perished.

The young lord was assassinated by an unidentified mercenary who infiltrated himself into the king's home and disposed of him, but then died in the torching of the castle before he could reveal the name of his master.

The three Barons immediately saw their chance to take control. Armies and towns were called alert and the Barons took deep breaths, all waiting to see who was going to be the first one to raise a sword and draw blood. When one Baron decided to call the first shot, the second Noble War started.

All three men gained and lost provinces, soldiers, towns, and fortifications. But the more the battle raged, the more one of the three Barons seemed to weaken, while the other two became stronger and stronger. Soon, this Baron was killed and his provinces and soldiers were taken by the opponents.

Now only two Barons remain. One having the title of Duke and owning seven provinces, the other wearing the title of Elector and owning the remaining nine provinces.
