Remembering

I loved you once, that's for sure,
Before I knew you true.
Then you showed me your soul
And for a time my love grew.

Finally I realized
Never would there be,
A precious you and me
I hate that this I could not see.

Each day goes by slowly
And sometimes I see your face,
Smiling sweet at me.
But then I remember what's true.

I remember how I ran away
So many days ago
I scarce can figure out
Why I never let you go.

My mind says forget you,
My heart says please don't
Forever and for always,
So of course I won't.

Each day I will remember
Your gorgeous eyes, beautiful smile,
I shall love you forever,
Until the end of life's mile.
