And often it is pink

The way it moves around you

It’s sure to make you think.

Sometimes it can be itchy,

But in the end, it’s cool

When bending over front-wards,

You look like such a fool.

It’s a tu-tu!

Yes, friends, a tu-tu...

And here it is to stay...

When you become a dancer

Of tap, jazz, or ballet

Tu-tus are not guaranteed

But in pointe, here they stay!

As you might have heard

For when you back into a chair

You squat down like a bird.

Walking around in such an outfit

Can be rather hard

Once you get into the mood,

You won’t feel like a ‘tard*.

Please accept their differences

‘Cause other skirts decline

Allowing you to dance

And showing your behind!

***BRAVO!***

********Dedicated to all of my dancer friends out there (Laurie, Jodie, Alana, Xenia, Lindsay, Michelle, Marissa, Mal, Amanda, Thu-Thu, Hannah, and others)

******* ’tard, as in “retardâ€
