The Oath

by Illyandria

Ever since I was young
You’ve fought by my side
You were there for me always
And in my heart you’ll reside

Time took its toll
Fate took a stand
A man came to confront you
Dagger in hand

You’d thought him disposed of
But in the midst of the fight
His blade pierced your back
And the murderer took flight

‘Tis a bitter-sweet victory
For the war we did win
But you lost your life
So let my quest begin

For kneeling beside you
I made a mad pledge
That I’d find him responsible
And have my revenge
