Hey it’s me again! Woot! I got another idea in my head! I hope you guys like it! If you like this on, check out my other stories. I’ve written a couple others like this one! Enjoy!
“Shit! I over slept! Nice that my mom woke me up.”
She rushed into the bathroom, got changed and ran downstairs. She made some breakfast and ate.
“Hello Aurora. You don’t mind walking home today do you?”
“No why?”
“Tommy’s preschool is having a party for mothers.”
“Oh ok. No it’s no problem mom.”
“Ok thanks. I’m sure you can bum a ride from your friends.”
Aurora just looked at her cereal.
“Uh yeah sure, from my friends.”
“Come on and hurry up or you’re going to be late.”
Aurora got her backpack and hopped into the car. Her mother drove her to school.
“Here we are. Have fun!”
“Yeah…bye.”
Aurora walked to her locker.
‘Hmm…what books do I need?’
She grabbed her morning books and walked to homeroom. Aurora sat alone in the back. She watched her ‘friends’ gossip.
“Did you hear that Danny wants to ask Ashley to the farewell dance?”
“Really? She’s so lucky!”
“I know. I wish he’d ask me.”
Aurora sighed and remembered when she used to talk to them. She remembered how she knew everything about everyone. They all listened to her. She felt important. Then she changed. She was different and they didn’t talk to her anymore. They didn’t like her anymore. One of them spread rumors about her and since that day no one talked to her…they only talked about her. She snapped back to the real world when she heard someone say her name. It was one of them. They were talking about her.
‘They act like I don’t even exist. I know they know I’m right behind them.’
“Did you hear that Aurora’s not going to the farewell?”
“What a fucking dork! Everyone’s going!”
“She’s probably not going because no one likes her.”
They all laughed.
“Yeah that’s it. Why were we even friends with her anyway?”
“I think it was because she had a pool and a trampoline.”
“Oh yeah that’s right. Hmm…well when it’s hot out we’ll have to talk to her.”
“Don’t forget that she also lives behind Danny and we could see him from her deck.”
“How could I ever forget that.”
Aurora wanted to snap their necks.
‘Stupid bitches.’
“She’s so stupid that she never caught on.”
“I know.”
Aurora was about to scream.
‘I can’t believe them!’
The bell rang and Aurora walked to her class.
Aurora watched as everyone paired up. She just sat there waiting for someone to come over and ask if she wanted to work with them. No one came. The teacher walked over.
“Aurora don’t you have a partner?”
“No. There’s an odd number.”
“I’ll put you in a group. It’s ok if we have one group with 3.”
The teacher was about to walk away to find a group.
“Mr. Johnson I’d rather work by myself.”
“Are you sure? I don’t want you be alone.”
“I’m sure. I’m use to being alone.”
“Uh ok.”
Aurora was sitting alone in lunch. Her table was by everyone’s so she listened to all the conversations. However, she missed one.
“Ok dude. I’m gonna bump into her, making her drop her books and fall. Then you help her up and smile. Then you kiss her.”
“How much are you going to pay me?”
“20 bucks.”
“Dude, it’s a deal!”
“Ow!”
She looked up and saw Danny picking up her books. He held out his hand. Aurora took it and helped her up. Danny smiled at her.
“Thanks!”
“No problem. Anything for someone as pretty as you.”
Danny kissed her on the lips. She couldn’t believe it!
‘Oh my God!’
Danny ran back over to his friends.
“Damn dude I can’t believe you actually did that. Here’s you money.”
Aurora wanted to disappear. Some people started to laugh.
‘I knew I shouldn’t have believed it.’
She walked to her next class crying.
“Good afternoon. Today I want you to work on your reports. Organize your information and maybe start writing.”
Aurora took out her notebook.
‘Why bother doing a report when I’m going to be dead anyway.’
She started writing some poems about killing herself. The teacher walked around the classroom making sure everyone was working. She walked by Aurora’s desk and found a piece of paper on the floor. She took it back to her desk. Aurora was looking for the poem she wrote.
‘Where the fuck did it go?’
She looked up and saw Mrs. Layton with it. Her faced paled.
‘Oh shit.’
Mrs. Layton read the paper. She walked over to Aurora.
“May I speak with you outside?”
Aurora nodded her head. They walked into the hallway. Mrs. Layton held up the paper.
“Do you really want to do this?”
Aurora shrugged her shoulders.
“Come on.”
“I don’t know.”
“I don’t think you should. You know people care about you.”
‘She doesn’t know what she’s talking about.’
Mrs. Layton saw Aurora wasn’t going to answer.
“I’m going to send you to the guidance office. Maybe you’ll talk to them.”
She walked to her desk and wrote a note.
“Here. Take this with you. Please think this over Aurora.”
Aurora walked down to guidance. She handed Mrs. Dill the note that Mrs. Layton wrote.
“Aurora why do you want to kill yourself?”
“I don’t know.”
“I think you know, you just don’t want to tell me.”
Aurora just looked at her.
“Are you having problems in school, at home? You need to tell me so I can help you.”
“What if I don’t want your help. What if I don’t want anyone’s help.”
“You’re a nice kid. I don’t want you to do this.”
“Why do you care?”
“I care because it’s not a good idea to kill yourself.”
“You don’t care! All you care about is keeping your job!”
“Aurora that’s not true. Killing yourself doesn’t make anything better for anyone. How would your parents feel?”
“They’d be happy.”
“Why do you say that?”
“Because they’ll have one less kid to care about.”
“Don’t say that! It’s not true.”
“You’re right. They won’t notice. They never noticed me!”
“Aurora…”
“Shut up! You don’t know anything about my life! You have no idea what it’s like to be me!”
“You’re right, but I can try so I can help you.”
“No! I don’t want any help!”
“Ok. I’ll just send you back to class.”
“You’re not going to tell my parents are you?”
“Aurora it’s my job.”
“So what. I don’t want them to know!”
“They need to know what’s going on. How about this…you think this over, come to me tomorrow and if you still want to then I’ll call your parents.”
“Fine.”
‘Heh she doesn’t know I’m going to do it tonight.’
‘Why am I crying?’
She put the knife to her wrist and felt sick.
‘Come on I have to do this.’
She was about to cut herself when she saw the knife was gone.
“What the…”
She looked up and saw an angel in front of her.
“Who are you?”
“My name is Amy. I’m your guardian angel.”
“And…”
“And I’m stopping you from killing yourself.”
“Why? No one cares.”
“Yes they do. You may not think so, but they do Aurora.”
“No they don’t.”
“I’m going to show you how much everyone cares.”
“How?”
“I’m going to take you to your funeral.”
“My funeral?”
“Yes come on.”
Aurora held Amy’s hand and they disappeared. Aurora closed her eyes and opened them. She looked around and saw herself in a coffin.
“Ha there’s no one here! I told you no one cared!”
“Stupid! It hasn’t started yet.”
“Oh.”
“Now be quiet and watch.”
Aurora saw her mother walking in. She was crying hysterically. Aurora ran over.
“Mom?”
“Aurora she can’t hear you. You’re a ghost.”
“Oh yeah.”
Aurora’s mother walked over to the coffin. She brushed Aurora’s cheek.
“She was so pretty. Why! Why did you do this!”
Her mother fell to her knees, crying. Her father ran over and hugged her.
“It’s ok honey.”
Aurora’s mom got up and cried on his shoulder. Aurora’s brother came into the room with her grandma.
“Mommy! Daddy!”
He ran over to his dad.
“Daddy! Where’s Aurora! I want Aurora!”
The father picked him up.
“Aurora’s gone Tommy.”
“When’s she coming back?”
“She can’t come back.”
Tommy started crying.
“Why not daddy! Why can’t she come back!”
Her father hugged him tightly.
“It’s ok little guy. Go ahead and cry.”
“I want Aurora!”
Aurora’s father began to cry. Aurora felt horrible.
“They really do care.”
She watched as the rest of her siblings came in.
“Momma! I miss Aurora! I want her back!”
Aurora started to cry.
“This is horrible!”
She watched as her aunts, uncles and cousins came in. She watched them cry…cry for her.
“I want to leave Amy!”
“Not yet. Look.”
“Huh?”
Aurora looked and saw her ‘friends’ walk in.
“What are they doing here?”
“Shh…”
“I don’t feel right here.”
They all nodded in agreement.
“We were so mean to her.”
“I know.”
They walked up to the coffin.
“Do you guys remember when we all met in preschool and we hated each other?”
“Yeah and when we went to the ice cream place and I lost our money because of the hole in my pocket and Aurora paid for all of us?”
“Uh huh…she was so nice.”
They all started to cry.
“Do you remember when we went to the roller rink and she said she was going to do an awesome trick and fell on her face?”
They laughed at the good times.
“Yeah. Why did we toss all those memories away? She was such a great friend. ”
“Because she changed and we didn’t like her. But she never changed, we did.”
They all wiped their tears and looked at Aurora.
“I’m so sorry Aurora.”
“I wish we never hurt you.”
“I wish we could take back everything we did, but it’s too late now.”
The girls bowed their heads in shame and walked away.
Aurora’s tears were cascading down her cheek.
“Amy I want to leave right now!”
“All right.”
In a flash they were gone. Aurora opened her eyes and looked around. She was still in her bed. She looked at the clock.
‘It’s 1:30. I must have fallen asleep.’
She got up and walked to the bathroom. She found the knife and put it back in the kitchen.
“I won’t be needing this anymore.”
Aurora walked back to her room and went back to sleep.
