A battered soldier struggles on
All he ever loved is gone
He knows they will start looking soon
Easy to find under a full moon

A crested wave breaks on the beach
Slipping slowly out of reach

The child that never had any love
Now lets the rain clean the mud
Finding faults that he must blame
On parents that have led him to shame

The moon is slowly rising now
Showing hope and seeing all
The rain that clears the mud away
Shows hope again for a new day

The sodier sighs as he reaches the beach
Slipping slowly out of their reach
He follows the wave, getting deeper
Waiting for the come of the Reaper

The child waits for his parents now
Knowing the beating will come, but how?
He feels the pain, sees the blood
Limp, he falls into the flood

The moon is slowly rising now
Showing hope and seeing all
The rain that clears the mud away
Shows hope again for a new day
